Located in the wing of the Bank Building, the History Center is our new initiative to develop a repository of historical information about Sackets Harbor and the surrounding area.

Initially focused on building preservation, the Historical Society does not have its own collection of artifacts.  (The Village’s Pickering-Beach Museum has long served as the community’s traditional house museum with a large collection of artifacts.)  However, the Historical Society recognized the need preserve the history of Sackets Harbor.

Consequently, the Historical Society is focused on gathering copies of documents, photos, records, and stories about Sackets Harbor’s people, events, and places and making them available to the public.  We have several on-going initiatives to achieve that goal:

  • Temporary Exhibit Series
  • Oral History Program
  • Geneology Program
  • Digital Exhibit Kiosk*

The History Center also houses our office and a small gift shop. If you would like to get involved in any of our programs, please consider volunteering.
